【国際コース】　「Production」授業　～私たちの環境(たち)を探る～

「Production」授業では、毎年ひとつの大きなテーマをもとに、生徒たちがディスカッションやリサーチを行い、最終的にプロジェクトを完成させます。今年度のテーマは「私たちの環境(たち)を探る」です。

「環境」と聞くと、自然環境だけを思い浮かべがちですが、実際にはさまざまな種類の環境があります。社会環境、家庭環境、教育環境など、複数の環境が互いに影響を与え合いながら、私たちの生活や考え方に作用しているのです。本日の授業では、生徒たちがこうした異なる環境について考え、それぞれの環境を紙の円で表現する活動を行いました。円の大きさは、自分の生活におけるその環境の影響の大きさを表しています。例えば、一つのグループでは「社会環境」の円が最も大きく、「学校環境」は比較的小さいという結果になっていました。

「Production」授業は、国際コースの全てのレベルの生徒が一緒に学ぶ、数少ない授業のひとつです。異なる英語レベルの生徒たちが互いにサポートし合いながら、興味深く、時に難しいテーマについて真剣に考え、話し合う貴重な機会となっています。

Every year in our Production Class, students engage in discussions, do research, and complete a project based around a large theme. This year’s theme is “Exploring our Environments”. Usually when we think about the word environment, we only think about the natural environment. But there are all kinds of environments. Today in class, students began to think about how these various environments, such as social environment, home environment, education environment, all interact with each other and affect us as people. The students had to make representations of each of the environments out of paper circles and the size of the circle was based on the impact that each environment has on their lives. So for many of the groups, the “social environment” circle was very large, where as the “school environment” was smaller. The Production class is one of our only classes where all the International Course students work together. This allows all level of students to support and help each other as they think about and discuss difficult and engaging topics.
