【オープンキャンパス】Alison先生による “My Winter Vacation”
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This was my first time conducting an Open Campus lesson, and I created a lower-level speaking class with the theme “Talking About My Winter Vacation.” Following our school philosophy of reduce, reuse, recycle, we reused decorations from the Christmas lesson and adapted them to create a cozy, winter-themed classroom atmosphere.
今回初めてオープンキャンパス授業を担当しました。「冬休みの過ごし方について話そう」がテーマの、基本レベルの会話クラスの企画です。「減らす・再利用する・リサイクルする」という理念に沿い、クリスマス授業で使用した装飾を再利用し、冬らしい温かみのある教室の雰囲気を演出しました。
Irish winter traditions

The lesson began with a self-introduction warm-up, followed by a discussion of winter traditions in my home country and in Japan. Students were especially surprised by the English translations of some Japanese winter traditions. Next, we practiced using the past tense to ask and answer questions about winter activities, with a focus on the difference between regular and irregular verbs.
授業は自己紹介のウォームアップから始まり、母国と日本の冬の伝統について話し合いました。生徒たちは特に、日本の冬の伝統の英語訳に驚いていました。次に、規則動詞と不規則動詞の違いに焦点を当てながら、冬の活動について過去形を使って質問し答える練習をしました。
Experience the atmosphere of a Clark English class
After that, students took part in a “Find Someone Who…” activity, where they asked each other questions about their winter vacations. Finally, they shared their findings with the class and practiced using the past tense in the third person. I hope the students enjoyed the lesson and were able to experience the atmosphere of a Clark English class.

その後、「Find Someone Who…」アクティビティで、互いの冬休みの過ごし方について質問し合いました。最後にクラスで発見を共有し、三人称の過去形の使用を練習しました。生徒たちが授業を楽しんで、クラーク英語クラスの雰囲気を感じ取れたことを願っています。
Special thanks

Thank you to our student helpers for setting up the classroom and helping with cleanup. And a special thank you to Adam-sensei for his advice and for using his artistic skills to create a wonderful winter design on the whiteboard. I also invited students and teachers to write their hopes or wishes for the year on origami prayer decorations, giving visitors a glimpse into the personality and goals of our school community. On to the next lesson!
