【国際コース】　全国英語ディスカッションコンテスト　～全国の仲間と切磋琢磨～

　毎年、クラークでは全国のクラーク連携生を対象とした”全国英語ディスカッションコンテスト”が行われています。決まったテーマに関して調べるうえに、それに対して自分の意見を述べる２分ほどの英語スピーチを準備して、相手の言うことと自分の意見をお互いに分かち合いながら、丁寧に英語でディスカッションを実施するコンペティションです。
　今年のテーマは、「デジタル社会における心身の健康」となっています。第一次選考では、そのテーマに関して調べて、自分の意見を述べるスピーチ動画を提出します。
　札幌大通校の出場生徒たちは、動画を撮影する前に実際に発表してみて、お互いにフィードバックや指摘を交換しました。実践的に練習をすることで、その後の動画撮影に対してみんなが自信を持って、すらすらと述べることができました。
　緊張しながら待つこと1週間、ついに結果が出ました。85名の応募の中から3年生の赤木さんと田中さんが決勝戦に進む10名に選ばれました。
　さあ、決勝戦も頑張ろう！

Every year, Clark Memorial International High School International Course holds the Clark All Japan English Discussion Contest. In this competition, students research a specific theme, prepare a two-minute English speech in which they try to express their opinion on the theme, and then carefully conduct a discussion in English, sharing what they have said and and sharing their opinions with each other. This year’s theme is “Mental and Physical Health in a Digital Society.” The first stage of the contest consists of submitting a video in which you state the speech you have thought up after researching and standing by your opinion on the subject. Before shooting that video, applicants from the Sapporo Odori Campus gathered together to actually present their speeches in front of each other and exchange feedback and pointers with each other. By practicing in such a practical manner, everyone was able to deliver their speeches with confidence and ease for the subsequent video recording. After a week of nervous waiting, the results finally came in: congratulations to Mr. Akagi and Ms. Tanaka, who were chosen as two of the ten finalists out of 85
