　自分が人生に何を求めているかを声に出して言葉にすること。それは、とても力強い行為です。それを紙に書き記すことは、さらに力強い。そして、それを木に飾ること――自分自身のために、仲間のために、そして宇宙そのものが証人となるように――それは、特別な何かです。

　毎年、国際コースの生徒たちは、他のどこにもない伝統に参加します。ツリーセレモニーでは、生徒たちが互いに力を合わせ、それぞれの目標を形にし、磨き上げていきます。お互いの言葉を読み、励ましを送り合い、そして一人ひとりの宣言が枝の間にその場所を見つける瞬間、肩を並べて共に立ちます。それは、静かな勇気と、共有された志の瞬間です。

　しかし、このセレモニーを本当に意味深いものにしているのは、全てを完璧に決めなければならないということではない、ということです。夢は変わります。目標はずれていくこともあります。今日の自分は、一年後、二年後、三年後の自分とは違う人間です。そして、それは許されることであるだけでなく――それは美しいことなのです。

　あの木に飾るものは、契約書ではありません。それは、羅針盤です。それは一つの約束です――特定の目的地に必ず辿り着くという約束ではなく、常に前へ進み続けるという約束。何が変わろうとも、人生がどの方向へ向かおうとも、決して立ち止まらないという約束です。

　だから、大胆に書いてください。正直に夢を描いてください。そして、あの木に飾られたすべての目標が、世界へ向けて静かなメッセージを送り出していることを知っていてください。私はここにいる。私は挑んでいる。私は止まらない。 と。

　それが、ツリーセレモニーの精神です。それが、国際コースの精神です。

There is something powerful about saying out loud what you want from your life. Something even more powerful about writing it down. And something extraordinary about placing it on a tree — for yourself, for your peers, and for the universe itself to witness.

Every year, students of the International Course take part in a tradition unlike any other. In our Tree Ceremony, students come together to help one another shape and refine their goals — reading each other’s words, offering encouragement, and standing side by side as each declaration finds its place among the branches. It is a moment of quiet courage and shared purpose.

But here is what makes this ceremony truly meaningful: it is not about getting everything right. Dreams change. Goals shift. The person you are today is not the person you will be in one year, or two, or three. And that is not only acceptable — it is beautiful.

What you place on that tree is not a contract. It is a compass. It is a promise — not that you will arrive at a specific destination, but that you will always keep moving. That no matter what changes, no matter which direction life takes you, you will never stand still.

So write boldly. Dream honestly. And know that every goal placed on that tree sends a quiet message into the world: I am here. I am trying. I will not stop.

That is the spirit of the Tree Ceremony. That is the spirit of the International Course.
