【国際コース】　高文連 英語プレゼンテーションコンテストへの挑戦　

　毎年、国際コースから5〜9名ほどの生徒が、北海道高等学校文化連盟の全道高等学校英語プレゼンテーションコンテストに参加しています。

　今年は特に難しい大会となりました。今回の新しいテーマは、 「北海道の町や市に住む外国人住民に、どのようにして日本へ定住してもらうか」 という内容でした。

　プレゼンテーションチームの生徒たちは、2か月間かけて、北海道のえりも町に外国人住民を迎え入れるための具体的なプランを作成しました。公営住宅を建設するための費用を調べたり、漁業分野で働く人材不足について学んだり、町役場の職員や町議会関係者への聞き取りも行いました。

　そして、それらの調査をもとに、えりも町の人口増加や国際的な観光地化につながる新しいアイデアを、英語で分かりやすく発表しました。

　残念ながら決勝進出とはなりませんでしたが、生徒たちのプレゼンテーションはとても素晴らしいものでした。そして何より、チームで協力する力、深く調査する力、そして社会問題について創造的に考える力を大きく伸ばすことができました。これらの経験は、きっと将来にもつながっていくことでしょう。

Every year, between 5 and 9 students from the International Course participate in the All Hokkaido English Presentation Contest.

This year’s contest was especially challenging because students had to prepare presentations on a brand-new topic: “How can you encourage foreign residents in a town or city in Hokkaido to stay permanently in Japan?”

For two months, the presentation team worked hard to create a detailed plan to welcome more international residents to Erimo Town in Hokkaido. The students researched the cost of building public housing, studied the need for workers in the fishing industry, and even spoke with town hall staff and local government members.

Using their research, the team created an exciting proposal and presentation showing a new way to help Erimo increase its population and become a more international tourist destination.

Although the team did not advance to the final round of the contest, their presentation was outstanding. More importantly, they learned how to work together as a team, conduct deep research, and think creatively about real-world problems. These are valuable skills that will help them far into the future.
