　幕が上がる前に、チームはひとつにまとまらなければなりません。そのためにこそ、ウォーマーは存在しています。

　ドラマクラスにおけるウォーマーは、授業を楽しくスタートさせるための単なる手段ではありません。それは、個々の生徒たちがひとつのグループへと変わっていく瞬間です。教室の空気が変わり、緊張がほぐれ、全員が周りの人たちに意識を向け始めます。なぜなら、優れたドラマは決してひとりの力だけで成り立つものではないからです。それは、互いに聴き、反応し、ひとつになって動くことで生まれるものです。

　その好例が、アナ・ケンドリックで有名になったカップスソングです。一見シンプルに見えるこの活動は、参加者一人ひとりに驚くほど深いことを求めます――グループのリズムを感じ取り、自分自身のテンポをそれに合わせることです。速すぎればパターンは崩れ、遅すぎればビートを見失います。隣にいる人を信頼しながら、リアルタイムで調整し、全員が本当に互いに注意を向けているときにだけ、この活動はうまくいくのです。
