【国際コース】英語は「勉強」だけじゃない！～文化や遊びを通して学ぶ新しい英語教育へ～

　国際コースでは、毎週2～4時間をかけて、世界のさまざまな課題をテーマにしたプロジェクト学習に取り組んでいます。

　プロジェクトを通して、生徒たちは英語力だけでなく、リサーチ力や課題解決力、そして未来のリーダーに必要なリーダーシップを身につけています。
今回紹介するグループのテーマは、「日本の英語教育をもっと良くするには？」です。

　生徒たちは、「英語は文法や単語を覚えるだけではなく、文化を知り、人と楽しくコミュニケーションをとることが大切だ」と考えました。そこで数か月にわたり、世界各国の外国語教育について調査し、自分たちだけのオリジナル教材やゲーム、授業プランを作成しました。
　そして先日、その成果を発表する場として、札幌市中央区の小学生を対象に、自分たちが先生となって英語の授業を実施しました！
　授業では、世界のさまざまな国の遊びを取り入れたアクティビティを行い、子どもたちは教室中を元気に動き回りながら、友達と協力し、英語でコミュニケーションを楽しみました。

　教室には笑顔と笑い声があふれ、子どもたちは夢中になって活動に参加していました。

　生徒たちにとっても、この授業は大きな学びの機会となりました。自分たちで考えたアイデアを実際に形にし、多くの子どもたちに英語の楽しさを伝えることで、「日本の英語教育をもっと楽しくしたい」という夢に、また一歩近づくことができました。

　国際コースでは、世界について学ぶだけではありません。学んだことを行動に移し、社会に新しい価値を生み出す力を育てています。
　世界を学ぶ。そして、世界をより良く変えていく。

　それが、国際コースのプロジェクト学習です。

Every week, students in the International Course spend 2 to 4 hours working on project-based learning. These projects help students improve their research, English communication, and leadership skills while exploring important global issues.

One project team has been asking an important question:
“How can we make English education in Japan more fun and meaningful?”

After months of research, the students came to one clear conclusion. Learning a language should also mean learning about different cultures and enjoying communication with others. To put their ideas into action, the team researched how foreign languages are taught around the world. They then designed their own original teaching materials, educational games, and lesson plans.

Last week, the students had the chance to share their ideas with local elementary school children from the Sapporo Chuo area. They planned and taught the entire lesson themselves! The class was packed with exciting games from different countries. The children moved around the classroom, worked together, and used English while having fun. Before long, the room was filled with smiles, laughter, and enthusiastic voices.

For the Clark students, this was more than just an English lesson. It was an opportunity to test their own ideas, gain real teaching experience, and take one more step toward their goal of creating a better English learning experience for children across Japan.

At the International Course, students don’t just study the world—they work to change it.
