【インターナショナルコース】Adam 先生による Test Skills の授業②

クラーク記念国際高等学校 東京キャンパス インターナショナルコース の Test Skills というクラスをご紹介します。このクラスでは、生徒それぞれの目標の実現に向けて、身近な話題から社会的な課題まで、自分独自の意見や見解を持ち、明確に主張したり、伝わりやすく表現したりできる力も身につけています。

英検準1級以上 / IELTS の授業を担当するカナダ出身のAdam先生より

In our test skills class, students were presented with various opinions that they discussed in groups. After that a representative from each group would express to the class their team’s consensus.

テストスキルズの授業では、生徒たちはさまざまな意見を提示され、グループで話し合いました。そのあとに各グループ代表の生徒が、自分たちのチームのコンセンサスをクラスで発表しました。

Classroom filled with open minds

They had to decide whether they agreed or disagreed with a stated opinion. In their explanation they provided examples to support their response. In this lesson there was no debate but rather a classroom filled with open minds, as some of the opinions were very different from their own.

生徒たちは、ある意見に賛成か反対かを決めなければなりませんでした。その説明の中で、彼らは自分たちの回答を裏付ける例を示しました。この授業ではディベートは行いませんでした。しかし、自分たちとはまったく異なる意見もあり、教室はオープンマインドで満たされていました。

Some of the topics covered were global warming, education as a means to financial success, challenging seemingly impossible tasks, sport hunting, and the power of first impressions.

地球温暖化、経済的成功の手段としての教育、不可能に見える仕事への挑戦、スポーツ・ハンティング、第一印象の力など、多岐にわたるトピックを取り上げました。
