【インターナショナルコース】高校生パーラメンタリーディベート世界交流大会2024 ③ Mixed Debate & Student Connect Activity
1月29日〜2月10日に、高校生がパーラメンタリーディベート（英国議会方式の即興ディベート）を通して国際文化交流を行う大会（PDWC: Parliamentary Debate World Conference & Competition 2024）がオンラインで開催されました。クラーク記念国際高校東京キャンパスからは、インターナショナルコースの2, 3年生3名が参加しました！
今回は 2月5日（月）に行われた「Mixed Debate 1」と「Student Connect Activity 1」の様子をお伝えします！
Mixed Debate
First, students participated in a mixed debate training activity. They were put into groups with students from other countries – Australia, the USA, Morocco, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Nepal. They were asked to form teams and respond to the following proposition:
まず、生徒たちは混合ディベートのトレーニング活動に参加しました。生徒たちは、オーストラリア、アメリカ合衆国、モロッコ、インドネシア、ニュージーランド、ネパールといった他国の生徒たちとグループになりました。彼らはチームをつくり、次のようなテーマに答えるよう求められました。
“The house believes that living in the countryside is better than living in the city!”
“このチームは、都会に住むより田舎に住む方がいいと考えています！”
Everyone debates!
All teams performed extremely well and even the teachers involved were put into groups and had to debate this. It was a great opportunity to see how the students planned and organized their thoughts and opinions.
どのチームも素晴らしい回答をし、教員もグループ分けされディベートをしました。生徒たちがどのように計画し、自分の考えや意見を整理しているかを見る良い機会となりました。
Student Connect Activity
The second event was using an app called ‘Gather.’ Gather is an online platform similar to a virtual conference. The conference was set on a virtual island with each school having a room for presenting the school and country they come from. Students enter each room and talk to others to learn more about them.
日本時間夜の「Student Connect Activity」では、Gatherというアプリを使いました。Gatherはバーチャル会議に似たオンライン・プラットフォームです。会議はバーチャルな島に設定され、各学校は自分の出身校や国を発表する部屋を持ちます。生徒たちは各部屋に入り、他の生徒と話し、その生徒についてもっと知ることができます。
