【インターナショナルコース】高校生パーラメンタリーディベート世界交流大会2024 ⑦ 決勝戦進出！

1月29日〜2月10日に、高校生がパーラメンタリーディベート（英国議会方式の即興ディベート）を通して国際文化交流を行う大会（PDWC: Parliamentary Debate World Conference & Competition 2024）がオンラインで開催されました。クラーク記念国際高校東京キャンパスからは、インターナショナルコースの2, 3年生3名が参加しました！

今回は 2月9日（金）の準決勝「Semi-Final Debate Round」の様子をお伝えします！

Rematch with the Indonesian team🇮🇩

Last night, our students participated in the semi-finals against Indonesia. The motion was, “This house believes that everybody should be a leader!” This was much easier for our students to understand, as we have debated similar topics in the debate class we have every Thursday.

昨夜、本校の生徒たちが準決勝のインドネシア戦に出場しました。モーション（ディベートのテーマ）は、”誰もがリーダーになるべきだ！” というものでした。これはクラーク国際 東京キャンパス インターナショナルコースで毎週木曜日に行っているディベートの授業で同じようなテーマでした。ディベートしたことがあるため、本校の生徒たちにとってはこの方がはるかに理解しやすかったです。

Amazing teamwork

Both teams were excited about being in the semi-final and all of the participants were a little nervous. But, everybody in the debate did a fantastic job of expressing their opinions and the teamwork from both teams was amazing. We feel sad for the Indonesian team because they have been with us for the entire ten days. We honestly wish them well and hope we meet them again next year.

両チームとも準決勝に進出したことに興奮し、参加者全員が少し緊張していました。しかし、ディベートに参加した全員が自分の意見を述べるという素晴らしい仕事をし、両チームのチームワークは素晴らしかったです。 インドネシアチームは、10日間ずっと私たちと一緒に戦ってきただけに、とても残念です。彼らの健闘を祈るとともに、来年また会えることを願っています。

Final debate with New Zealand team🇳🇿

Now, the big news, WE ARE IN THE FINAL!!!! We will be debating the team from New Zealand. The team from NZ is super strong and has been in the debate for the past six years. This final will be a very big challenge for our students. But I believe it will be an incredible experience, and if they continue to improve anything is possible.

ということでいよいよ決勝戦です！ 対戦するニュージーランドのチームは超強豪で、過去6年間ディベートに出場しています。この決勝戦は、私たちの生徒たちにとって非常に大きな挑戦となるでしょう。しかし、私はそれが素晴らしい経験になると信じています。
