【2学年】ダレン先生による英語コミュニケーションII「Wild Men」
クラーク国際では生徒が主体的・協働的に学ぶことができる授業を展開しています。また、午前中の「英語コミュニケーション」の習熟度別授業は、ネイティブ教員も担当しています。今回はイギリス出身のダレン先生が2年生と行った、「身近な行事について英語で紹介できる」ことを目標とした授業をご紹介します。
Preparation Focus and Key Activities
Students engaged in targeted practice this week to prepare for upcoming the first-semester exam, utilizing Lesson 3 “Wild Men” of All Aboard! English Communication II as the core resource.
生徒たちは今週、『All Aboard! English Communication II』のLesson 3「Wild Men」を中心に、前期末試験に向けて的を絞った学習に取り組みました。
Listening Comprehension and Creative Design
We practiced listening skills using audio materials related to the “wild men” and Namahage folklore from the textbook. Then we practicerd writing, using completed structured writing exercises based on the unit’s themes and vocabulary. Students also designed their own unique “Namahage” masks/figures, applying vocabulary and cultural concepts creatively.
まず、教科書に載っている「Wild Men」や、「なまはげ」の民話に関する音声教材を使って、リスニングの練習をしました。次に、この単元のテーマと語彙に基づいた構成的な文章を書く練習をしました。生徒たちはまた、語彙や文化的概念を創造的に応用しながら、自分たち独自の「なまはげ」の仮面やフィギュアをデザインしたのです。
Cultural Context and Outcome
The multi-skill approach (listening, writing, creative design) enhanced vocabulary retention and cultural awareness related to the test topic. Students demonstrated active participation and enthusiasm, particularly during the Namahage design activity.
