インターナショナルコースでは、3年間を通して英語力、他の文化を理解する力、世界の課題に取り組む力を身につけていきます。

今回はPeter先生によるDebateの授業の様子を紹介します！

There’s a lot of nervous energy in the room

We’re finally back in the debating room! Students have been given the chance to choose their own debate topics, alongside some that I’ve pre-selected.　ついにディベートルームに戻ってきました。生徒たちは、事前に選んだトピックに加えて、自分でディベートのトピックを選ぶ機会を与えられています。

There’s a lot of nervous energy in the room especially for those tackling this kind of challenge for the first time.　　部屋には緊張したエネルギーが満ちていました。特に、このタイプの課題に初めて取り組む生徒にとって。　　　　　

Today’s topic is: “Face-to-face relationships are more valuable than online relationships!”　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　今日のトピックは、「オンライン上の人間関係より、対面での人間関係の方が価値がある！」です。

Depth of their research and preparation

Students are exploring the pros and cons of both sides, and I’m genuinely impressed by the depth of their research and preparation. 生徒たちは長所と短所を探っていますが、私は彼らの研究と準備深さに心から感心しています。

It’s clear that their daily experiences in a digital world are shaping how they think and argue. デジタルの世界での日々の経験が、彼らの考え方や主張を形成しているのは明らかです。

What do you think? Which side would you find easier to support?　　　　　　　　　 Once you start reflecting on it, the topic may turn out to be more complex than it seems.
