【国際コース】　話題のYouTubeディベートに挑戦！～クラーク生の熱い議論～

　国際コースでは、英語を学ぶだけでなく、現代のメディアやコミュニケーションの流れについても学びます。今どんな話題が世界で語られているのか、そしてどのような形式で話し合われているのかを知ることは、国際的な会話に参加するための大切な力になります。

　最近、YouTube チャンネル Jubilee で新しいディベート形式 「Surrounded」 が始まりました。この形式では、一人の参加者が自分の意見を守りながら、複数の相手から次々と質問を受けます。とても緊張感があり、ワクワクするスタイルで、動画の中には1,000万回以上再生されたものもあります！

　もちろん、国際コースの生徒たちもこの形式に挑戦しました。テーマは例えば：

• 運転免許は20歳以上にだけ与えるべき？
• お金持ちになって、しかも「良い人」でいることは本当に可能？

挑戦は難しかったけれど、とても楽しく、世界で広がっている新しいディベートスタイルを体験できる貴重な時間になりました。

In the International Course, students don’t just study English—they also learn about today’s media and communication trends. Understanding what people are talking about, and how they talk about it, helps our students join in exciting conversations with people from around the world.

Recently, the YouTube channel Jubilee started a debate format called “Surrounded.” In this style, one person must defend their opinion while being questioned by many opponents. It’s intense, exciting, and very popular—some videos have over 10 million views!

Of course, our students wanted to try it for themselves. They debated topics such as:

• Should driver’s licenses only be given to people 20 and older?
• Is it really possible to become rich and still be a good person?

The activity was challenging, fun, and a great way to practice discussing trending topics in a debate style that is spreading all over the world.
