Living, breathing showcase of student creativity and passion
If you picture a school festival, you might think of bake sales and maybe a talent show in Western countries. But in Japan, the Bunkasai (文化祭), or School Culture Festival, is something else entirely. It’s a vibrant, all-consuming event that transforms the entire school into a living, breathing showcase of student creativity and passion.
学園祭と聞くと、欧米では焼き菓子販売やタレントショーを思い浮かべるかもしれません。しかし、日本の「文化祭」は全く別物です。学校全体が、生徒の創造性と情熱が息づく展示場へと変貌し、活気に満ちた圧倒的なイベントとなります。
Horror escape, shooting gallery, trains, and mystical rooms
In the last few days, students at Clark have been busy with preparations. Classrooms are decorated into a variety of themes such as horror escape rooms, shooting gallery, trains, and mystical rooms. The next chill-out area is the cozy café with fresh coffee and cookies made by the Clark students. You’ll also find live music performances and dancing.
ここ数日、クラークの生徒たちは準備に追われていました。教室はホラー脱出ゲーム、射的場、列車、神秘的な部屋など様々なテーマで装飾されていました。次のくつろぎスポットは居心地の良いカフェで、クラークの生徒たちが淹れたてのコーヒーと手作りクッキーを提供していました。ライブ演奏やダンスも楽しめます！
Celebrating teamwork
But the Bunkasai’s magic isn’t just in the activities. It’s in the feeling and spirit of both staff and students. A Bunkasai is more than an open day; it’s a thank you. It’s the students’ way of saying, “This is us. This is what we can do together.” It’s a celebration of teamwork.
文化祭の魔法は、単に活動だけでなく、スタッフと生徒双方の気持ちと精神にあります。文化祭はオープンキャンパスの域を超え、生徒たちが「これが私たちです。これが私たちにできることです」と伝え、感謝をあらわす方法だともいえます。チームワークを祝う祭典なのです。
Incredible, joyful chaos
So, if you want to get lost in the haunted house, cheer for the performance dance group, and soak in the incredible, joyful chaos, you’ll leave with a full heart and a completely new understanding of school spirit.
