【国際コース】　「Communication」授業　～More Than Just a Game～

　　「Communication」授業では、生徒たちがカードゲームをしていました。
　　「誰の番？」「待って、今何を出したの？」「よし、これで勝てるかも！」こうした何気ないやりとりは、単なるゲームの中の会話ではありません。それは、リアルなコミュニケーションそのものです。プレイヤーは注意深く観察し、先を読み、他の人の動きに反応しなければなりません。勝つためには、ルールを理解するだけでなく、テーブルを囲む仲間を理解することが必要なのです。

　これは言語学習者にとって、素晴らしい練習の場です。ゲームの中では、言葉に目的が生まれます。質問するために、警告するために、喜びを分かち合うために、大胆な一手を打った友達をそっとからかうために、あなたは言葉を発します。プレッシャーは低く、楽しさは高い。間違えても大丈夫。みんなゲームに夢中だからです。

　最後に、勝っても負けても、手にするものはトロフィーよりももっと価値のあるもの——お互いへの理解です。さあ、カードをシャッフルして。手札を配って。ゲームの始まりです。

When students sit down to play a card game, something special happens. It does not matter if the conversation is in Japanese or English. What matters is that everyone is talking.

“Whose turn is it?” “Wait, what did you just play?” “I think I can win now!” These small exchanges are more than just game talk. They are real communication. Players must watch carefully. They must think ahead. They must react to what others do. To win, you have to understand not just the rules, but also the people sitting around the table.

This is good practice for language learners. In a game, words have a purpose. You speak because you need to ask, to warn, to celebrate, or to gently tease a friend who made a bold move. The pressure is low. The fun is high. Mistakes do not matter because everyone is focused on the game.

Whether you call it studying or just playing, it is all good experience. Every moment of communication builds confidence. Every game brings students closer together. And in the end, whether you win or lose, you walk away with something better than a trophy: a better understanding of each other.
