【国際コース】　Teaching to Learn: How Our Students Master English by Teaching Each Other

　札幌大通校では、「本当に理解しているかどうかは、教えられるかどうかでわかる」と考えています。国際コースの授業では、生徒たちはただ英語を学ぶだけではありません。実際に英語を「教える」体験をしています。授業時間を使って自分たちでレッスンを考え、クラスメートに向けて実践する機会を定期的に設けることで協働の場となっています。

　このアプローチの根底にある考えは「他の人にわかりやすく説明できて初めて、その知識は本当に自分のものになる」ということです。教えるという行為を通じて、生徒たちは英語力を磨き、自信を育て、目的を持って伝える力を身につけていきます。

　その価値は英語力の向上にとどまりません。教育者たちが知識と情熱を持って次の世代を育てているように、生徒たちが同じ精神を持ち続けられるよう育てたいと考えています。周りの人を導き、支え、そして励ますことのできる人間へと成長すること。教壇に立つ経験を通じて、生徒たちは試験のための準備をするだけでなく、社会において力強く生きていくための準備をしています。

At Sapporo-Odori, we believe that the truest test of understanding is the ability to teach. In our International Course Studies classes, students don’t just learn English — they teach it. We regularly give students dedicated class time to design and deliver their own lessons to their peers, turning the classroom into a collaborative space where everyone is both student and teacher.

This approach is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: when you can explain something clearly to someone else, you have truly made it your own. Through teaching, students sharpen their language skills, build confidence, and learn to communicate with purpose and clarity.

But the value goes beyond English ability. Just as educators at Clark pour their knowledge and passion into shaping the next generation, we want our students to carry that same spirit forward — to become people who lead, support, and inspire those around them.
