【インターナショナルコース】 Writing クラーク国際「英語エッセイコンテスト 2026」

毎年クラーク国際では、英語4技能のうち、「書くこと」Writing分野の力を伸ばす「英語エッセイコンテスト」を開催しています！ 今年のエッセイテーマは「自分にとって重要な体験」「自分にとって重要な異文化体験」「コミュニケーションが私の視野をどのように広げたか（How communication has broadened my horizons）」です。今回はPeter先生が、インターナショナルコースの授業での、エッセイ完成に向けた取り組みをご紹介します。

The Clark Essay Contest 2026

It gives students an opportunity to express themselves and show the progress they have made with their writing. At first, it is always a little stressful for students, as they struggle to find how they feel or in what way communication has broadened their horizons.

クラーク国際 英語エッセイコンテストは、学生たちに自己表現の機会を与え、文章力における成長を示す場となっています。当初、学生たちは自分の感情をどのように表現すべきか、あるいはコミュニケーションを通じて視野がどのように広がったのかを見極めようと苦戦するため、少なからずストレスを感じるものです。

Articulate the reasons for their feelings

全員がトピックについてどう感じるかを決めた後、下書きの作成に移りました。最初の下書きはいつも最も大変です。なぜなら、生徒たちは自分の感情の根拠を明確に述べ、その展開を示す具体例を挙げなければならないからです。これには数週間かかることもあります！

Individual advice and personalized feedback

Once they had submitted their drafts, we gave individual advice and personalized feedback so they could improve on their work. This is always smoother than the initial stages but students start to realize the deadline is approaching. With a word of encouragement and large number of final checks, we move into the submission period of the contest.

草案の提出後、生徒たちが作品をさらに磨き上げられるよう、個別のアドバイスや一人ひとりに合わせたフィードバックを行いました。この段階では初期段階に比べて作業がスムーズに進みますが、生徒たちは締め切りが迫っていることを実感し始めます。励ましの言葉と入念な最終チェックを経て、コンテストの提出期間へと突入しました。

How communication has broadened my horizons

I am so happy to report that students were able to write down their thoughts and express their ideas while meeting the deadline. Well-done students! You have all reached the finish line. I am super impressed with all of your submissions. Now, you can go on summer break without the stress of writing an essay.

生徒たちが期日を守りながら、自分の考えを書き留め、アイデアを表現することができたことを、大変嬉しく思います。よく頑張りました！皆さん、無事にゴールにたどり着きました。提出されたすべての作品に、心から感銘を受けました。これで、エッセイを書くというストレスを感じることなく、夏休みを満喫できますね。
