Queensland Study Abroad Class

During our school excursion to Tokyo Global Gateway (TGG), students took part in the Queensland Study Abroad Class, taught by two friendly teachers from Australia, Rhoda and Liz. The lesson began with an introduction to Australia’s unique wildlife and landscapes.

Australia's unique ecosystems and geography
Students learned about famous animals like kangaroos, koalas, and platypuses, and explored places such as the Great Barrier Reef and the Australian Outback. Many students were surprised by how different Australia’s environment is from Japan and enjoyed asking questions about nature and wildlife.

Hands‑on science activity

Coaster cars

To put this into practice, students worked in small groups to build their own roller coaster tracks. Using marbles as “coaster cars,” they tested how height and slope affected speed. Students recorded their results, compared their designs, and talked about why some tracks were faster than others.
