【インターナショナルコース】新コース役員選挙を行いました

クラーク記念国際高等学校東京キャンパスでは、自分の好きをとことん学ぶことができる8つのコースに分かれて学びを行っています。インターナショナルコースでは、英語で「好き」を究めて、ほかの文化を理解する力、世界の課題に取り組む力を身につけていきます。

毎年コースリーダーたちを中心に、生徒主導のコース活動の企画や、学校説明会でのコース発表、オープンキャンパスでの体験授業サポートなどの役割を担い、生徒主体でコース運営を引っ張っています。今回はフィリピン出身のNica先生が、民主的に行われた新コース役員選挙の様子をお伝えします。

New Leaders for the International Course

Once elected, these leaders take on roles like organizing student-led course activities and helping out at the school’s explanatory event and Open Campus days. Although it was daunting, ten students bravely volunteered as candidates. They gave speeches in front of everyone about their motivations and aspirations for the course.

インターナショナルコースの新しいリーダーを選ぶ選挙を行いました。選出されたリーダーたちは、生徒主導のコース活動の企画や、学校説明会やオープンキャンパスでのサポートなどの役割を担います。少し勇気のいることでしたが、10名の生徒が勇気を出して立候補しました。彼らは全員の前で、このコースに対する動機や抱負についてスピーチを行いました。

Willingness to step up

A lot of them were very nervous to speak, but their willingness to step up shone through. After the speeches, the candidates were asked to step outside so that everyone could take a vote. To cast their vote, students closed their eyes and put their hands up when their desired candidate was called. All positions were decided in this way. All votes were close races.

多くの生徒が演説に非常に緊張していましたが、率先して名乗り出る姿勢がひしひしと伝わってきました。演説終了後、候補者たちは会場の外へ退出し、全員による投票が行われました。投票の際、生徒たちは目を閉じ、希望する候補者の名前が呼ばれると手を挙げました。すべての役職がこの方法で決定されました。どの投票も接戦となりました。

The first-years’ enthusiasm to undertake the challenge

What drew the biggest reaction from the crowd was the first-years’ enthusiasm to undertake the challenge. Five first-year students raised their hands to run the Assistant Course Leaders. Most of them mentioned their “warm and friendly seniors” as one of the reasons that made them want to be a part of the committee.

在校生から最も大きな反響を呼んだのは、1年生たちがこの挑戦に意欲的に取り組もうとする姿勢でした。5人の1年生が、コース役員補佐を務めるために手を挙げました。彼らのほとんどが、委員会に参加したいと思った理由の一つとして、「温かく親しみやすい先輩たち」を挙げていました。

It’s good to see the enthusiasm and passion of these course leaders! We are really excited to work with them this year!

こうしたコースリーダーたちの熱意と情熱を見るのは素晴らしいことです！今年、彼らと一緒に活動できることを本当に楽しみにしています！
