【オープンキャンパス】インターナショナルコースの体験授業 サバイバル・アイランド🏝️
クラーク記念国際高等学校 東京キャンパスのインターナショナルコースでは、英語で好きを究め、他の文化を理解する力、世界の課題に取り組む力を身につけることで、自分の可能性に手を伸ばします。今回はカナダ出身のAdam先生による、Survival Island の体験授業をご紹介します！
Survival Island: An open campus English class adventure
Our open campus visitors got to experience a uniquely themed English adventure for our demo lesson. The room was decorated in a jungle theme to represent the activity we participated in, surviving on a deserted island.
先日のオープンキャンパスに来られた皆様には、特別テーマの英語体験授業を体験していただきました。教室はジャングルをテーマに装飾され、無人島でのサバイバル活動という活動内容を表現しました。
Reuse, reduce, recycle
Almost all of the decorations used were scavenged from the bunkasai / school festival. This recycling made good use of what would otherwise be tossed in the garbage. Our International Course teachers helped to transform the classroom into a jungle to make everyone feel they were on a deserted island.
使用された装飾品のほとんどは文化祭から探して集めたものでした。このリサイクルにより、本来ならゴミとして捨てられるはずのものを有効活用しました。教室はジャングルへと変身し、全員が無人島にいるような気分を味わえるようになりました。
Icebreaker to help build rapport
In the first part of the lesson, teams got to know each other by asking icebreaker questions. This helped build rapport and make everyone more comfortable with talking to each other. This was essential for the main part of the lesson.
Work together to survive, escape, or be rescued!
Next, a story was told of how they were on a cruise together, but the ship had crashed. Their team washed ashore with several items. These items are the nouns that we reviewed and memorised.
A list of verbs and action words was also covered to be used in the next part of the class. Each team then made action plans of what they would do next. They chose three items and presented an explanation to the class of how they would use them to either survive, escape, or be rescued.
次に、全員がクルーズ船に乗船中、船が難破したという設定の物語が語られました。各チームは漂着時にいくつかの物品を手にしています。動詞（動作を表す言葉）のリストも次の授業で使用するため紹介されました。各チームは次に取る行動計画を立てました。3つのアイテムを選び、それらを「生存」「脱出」「救助」のいずれかに活用する方法をクラスに発表しました。
Imagination and creativity
This is a fun lesson because it involves imagination, creative thinking, writing, presentation skills, and team building. We all had a fun time sharing our ideas and listening to how others would use these items.
