【国際コース】「Communication」授業　～CLIL（内容言語統合型学習）で英語を使って教科を学ぶ～

　最上級レベルの「Communication」授業では、CLIL（内容言語統合型学習）という学習方法を取り入れています。これは、「英語を学ぶ」のではなく、英語を使って教科を学ぶスタイルの授業です。

　今年、生徒たちは経済学について学んでいます。今日の授業では、円とドルの為替の変化や銀行の金利など、私たちの生活に身近なことが、世界の大きな出来事によってどのように影響を受けるのかを学びました。中東での紛争や、日本と中国の関係などが世界経済に与える影響についても話し合いました。

　授業では、「世界の出来事が日本での自分たちの生活にもつながっている」ということについて、多くの活発なディスカッションが行われました。

　生徒たちが、「世界のニュースは遠い話ではなく、自分たちの日常や未来に関係している」と気づいていく姿がとても印象的でした。

　そして何より、こうした知識を身につけることで、生徒たちは将来、自分の生活をより良くするための行動や選択について考え始めることができます。

In the highest-level Communication Skills class, students use the CLIL learning method. This means they study subjects in English, instead of only studying English itself.

This year, students are learning about economics. In today’s class, they explored how everyday things—such as the value of the yen compared to the dollar or the interest rates banks charge—are affected by major world events. Students discussed how topics like conflict in the Middle East and Japan’s relationship with China can influence economies around the world.

The class had many exciting discussions about how these large international events can actually affect people’s daily lives in Japan.

It was inspiring to see students realize that world news is not something far away—it is connected to their own lives and future.

And most importantly, by understanding these global issues, students can begin thinking about how to make smarter choices and improve their own lives in the future
