【ボランティア】　小樽でビーチクリーンアップに挑戦！

　先週の土曜日、クラークの生徒37名が早朝にバスへ乗り込み、小樽で開催された「第2回海のクリーンアップ大作戦」に参加しました。このイベントには、北海道内の大学や企業からも多くのボランティアが集まりました。

　この活動を実現させたのは、ボランティア同好会のリーダー・金子さんの熱い思いと行動力です。リーダーとして活動する最後の時期を迎えた彼女は、札幌の外でも記憶に残るボランティア活動を企画したいと考えました。イベントをリサーチし、「海のクリーンアップ大作戦」を発見。さらに、無料の送迎バスを手配し、告知フライヤーを作成し、参加申し込みフォームも自ら作るなど、仲間の生徒が気軽に参加できるよう、あらゆる準備を整えました。

　当日は青空のもと、笑顔があふれる中、クラーク生たちは札幌近郊から集まったボランティアの方々とともに、ビーチに散らばったプラスチックごみを丁寧に拾い集めました。北海道の豊かな自然を守るだけでなく、様々な背景を持つ人々と交流できた、貴重な一日となりました。

　来年もまたこのイベントに参加できることを、今からとても楽しみにしています。

This past Saturday, 37 Clark students rose early and boarded a bus to Otaru to take part in the 2nd Annual Ocean Clean Up Dai Sakusen — a large-scale beach cleanup event that brought together volunteers from universities and businesses across Hokkaido.

The trip was made possible by the dedication of Volunteer Club leader Ms. Kaneko. As her time leading the club draws to a close, she was determined to organize one final, memorable activity beyond Sapporo. She researched events, discovered the Ocean Clean Up Dai Sakusen, secured a free bus for students, designed promotional flyers, and built a sign-up form — all to make the experience as accessible as possible for her fellow students.

Her efforts paid off. Under sunny skies and smiling faces, Clark students worked alongside volunteers from across the greater Sapporo area to clear plastic waste from the beach. It was a chance not only to protect Hokkaido’s natural environment, but to form meaningful connections with people from all walks of life.

It was a wonderful day, and we are already looking forward to joining again next year.
