【インターナショナルコース】Chain Story – 皆が繋がり合いながら英語と絵で紡ぐ物語

クラーク記念国際高等学校東京キャンパスのオープンキャンパスでは、校内見学や在校生のリアルな声を直接聞くことができます。また、好きなことにとことん熱中できる各コースの授業を実際に体験できる、体験授業も実施しています。今日はカナダ出身のアダム先生が、ビギナー向けのChain Story（チェイン・ストーリー）の体験授業をご紹介します！

What is a Story?

First, we explored what a story is and how stories are the core component of books, movies, comic books, manga, and video games. Everyone shared their favourite stories. We then enjoyed a trivia quiz game with interesting questions about all kinds of famous stories.

まず、物語とは何か、そして物語が本や映画、コミック、マンガ、ビデオゲームの中核をなす要素であることを探りました。参加者全員が、お気に入りの物語について語り合いました。その後、さまざまな有名な物語に関する興味深い問題が出題されるクイズゲームを楽しみました。ゲストや生徒たちは、非常に有名な映画やキャラクター、ビデオゲームのテーマの背景にあるインスピレーションを知り、驚いていました。

The more the merrier

From there we started to create our chain stories. We had a template that prompted us to introduce our character, describe where they went, what trouble they had to overcome, and conclude this adventure. Like a chain, we were all connected in the creation of our very entertaining stories because we would be constantly passing them along.

そこから、私たちは「チェインストーリー」を作り始めました。テンプレートがあり、そこに登場人物の紹介、その人物がどこへ行ったか、どんな困難を乗り越えたか、そしてこの冒険の結末を記述するよう促されていました。まるで鎖のように、私たちは皆、この非常に面白い物語の創作においてつながっていました。なぜなら、物語を絶えず次の人に引き継いでいったからです。

Weaving a single story

One person would quickly write, then pass their script off to the next person to illustrate. Every couple of minutes, we would pass our story to the next person in line, like a giant chain. For one finished story, twelve people would have had their input and worked on a single story.

前の人が英語でひとつの文を書き上げると、それを次の人に渡し、その文についてのイラストを描いていきます。数分おきに、まるで巨大なチェーンのように、私たちは物語を列の次の人に渡していきました。一つの物語が完成するまでに、12人がそれぞれのアイデアを出し合い、一つの物語を作り上げていったのです。

Wild adventures

The room was filled with excitement and laughter as the stories evolved into wild adventures. Everyone got to meet new people, express themselves, and take home a very creative story.
