クラーク記念国際高等学校東京キャンパスのオープンキャンパスでは、校内見学や在校生のリアルな声を直接聞くことができます。また、好きなことにとことん熱中できる各コースの授業を実際に体験できる、体験授業も実施しています。今日はフィリピン出身のニカ先生が、英語力にある程度自信がある中学生向けの、ファストファッションをテーマに行った体験授業をご紹介します！

Basic Class: Speaking with Friends / Advanced Class: Expanding Your World Through Vocabulary

In the Advanced Class, we started the lesson by guessing the prices of different products and thinking together about the huge price gap between these products. Then, we spent some time reading a text about fast fashion and studying high-frequency words and common expressions.

上級クラスでは、まずさまざまな商品の価格を推測し、それらの商品間の大きな価格差についてみんなで考え合うことから授業を始めました。その後、ファストファッションに関する文章を読み、頻出単語やよく使われる表現を学習しました。

After that, we talked about the text, specifically about the meaning of fast fashion and the problems that it causes. Lastly, the students wrote down what they should do about fast fashion on sticky notes and attached them to the tree drawn on the whiteboard. While most guests are familiar with fast fashion, some are still unaware of this problem.

その後、そのテキストについて、特に「ファストファッション」の意味やそれが引き起こす問題点について話し合いました。最後に、生徒たちはファストファッションに対して自分たちが何をするべきかを付箋に書き、ホワイトボードに描かれた木に貼り付けました。ほとんどの生徒はファストファッションについて知っていますが、この問題にまだ気づいていない生徒もいます。

Fast fashion in different contexts – history, science, and technology

I believe that the lesson did a good job of introducing the problem to students. Also, the high-frequency words can be helpful to students because they usually appear in different contexts, in history, science, technology, and others, which can help them understand the world more deeply.

今回の授業は、この問題を生徒たちにうまく紹介できたと思います。また、高頻出語は、歴史や科学、技術など、さまざまな文脈で登場することが多いため、生徒たちが世界をより深く理解する上で役立つでしょう。
