【進路】海外大学進学プログラム – Integrated writing for the TOEFL iBT

クラーク記念国際高等学校では、言語スキルの向上だけではなく、幅広い知識や考える力、国際理解力を養っています。進路は日本国内にとどまらず、海外の大学への進学を実現する生徒も少なくありません。7月から東京キャンパスでは、海外の大学への進学を志す生徒を対象に、『海外大学進学プログラム』を開始しています。今日はこのプログラムをリードするPeter先生が TOEFL iBT の授業をご紹介します。

TOEFL iBT とは？

The TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language – Internet-Based Testing) is the most internationally recognized test that measures non-native English speakers’ abilities to use and understand English at the university level. Today, we are looking more at integrated writing.

TOEFL iBTは、英語を母国語としない人が大学レベルで英語を使用し理解する能力を測るテストとして、最も国際的に認知されています。今日は、統合的ライティングについてより詳しく見ていきます。

TOEFL iBT Integrated writing task

Integrated writing means writing in response to ideas found in a reading or listening passage. In the first period, we went through the process of how we write. We looked at the elements of the reading passage, whether the speaker agrees or disagrees with the reading, and the reasons and examples that explain why.

統合的ライティングとは、リーディングやリスニングの文章にあるアイデアに対して書くことです。1限目では、どのように書くかというプロセスを学びました。リーディングパッセージの要素、話し手がリーディングに賛成か反対か、そしてその理由を説明する理由と例文に注目しました。

Tips and practice

It is a very challenging task. However, with a few helpful tips and a lot of practice, the students will be able to achieve a great score on the writing section of the test.
