Students Become the Teachers: Learning Through Student-Led Classes

On the International Course, we believe that students can learn just as much by teaching others as they do by listening to a teacher. Our student-led classes give students the opportunity to choose subjects that interest them, research them in depth, and then share what they have discovered with their classmates.

インターナショナルコースでは、「人に教えること」を通して得られる学びも大切にしています。生徒主体の授業では、生徒自身が興味を持ったテーマを選び、詳しく調べ、そしてクラスメイトに自分の学んだことを伝えます。

Recently, students explored two fascinating and completely different topics. One class investigated the origins of adidas and PUMA, discovering the remarkable story of brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler. The brothers originally worked together making sports shoes before their relationship broke down and they eventually established two rival companies that would go on to become globally recognised brands.

一つ目のクラスでは、世界的なスポーツブランドであるadidasとPUMAの誕生秘話について学びました。もともと一緒にスポーツシューズを作っていた兄弟、アドルフ・ダスラーとルドルフ・ダスラー。兄弟の関係が悪化したことをきっかけに、それぞれが別々の会社を立ち上げ、やがて世界的な2大スポーツブランドへと発展していった歴史を紹介しました。

Meanwhile, another class travelled much further back in Japanese history, exploring the different types of kimono and how they changed throughout Japan’s historical periods. Students examined how clothing reflected changing lifestyles, traditions, and aesthetics.

一方、もう一つのクラスでは、日本の着物の種類と歴史について発表しました。さまざまな時代の着物を取り上げ、それぞれの時代によってデザインや着こなしがどのように変化してきたのかを紹介し、衣服を通して日本の文化や人々の暮らしの変化について考えました。

These two classes perfectly demonstrate the diversity of interests within our International Course. From international business and entrepreneurship to Japanese history and culture, students are encouraged to follow their curiosity and become experts on subjects they find meaningful.

この2つの授業は、インターナショナルコースの生徒たちが持つ興味や関心の幅広さを象徴しています。世界的な企業の歴史から日本の伝統文化まで、生徒たちは自分の「知りたい」という気持ちを出発点に、さまざまなテーマを探究しています。

Through researching, presenting, answering questions, and sharing ideas, our students develop confidence, communication skills, and a genuine sense of ownership over their learning.
